Personal Experience
Joseph Tramuta Jr. is a seasoned attorney with more than four decades of experience providing effective, client-centered legal representation across a broad spectrum of practice areas. As Managing Partner of Minnella & Tramuta, LLC, located in Milford, Connecticut, he is known for his meticulous attention to detail, strategic problem-solving, and tenacious advocacy, while maintaining a compassionate and personalized approach to every client matter.
Attorney Tramuta concentrates his practice in estate planning and administration, probate, real estate and commercial transactions, business law, personal injury, civil and commercial litigation, family law, and criminal law. His work is informed by a rare combination of extensive legal knowledge and high-level business leadership experience, allowing him to deliver practical, results-driven solutions to complex legal challenges.
A native of Waterbury, Connecticut, Attorney Tramuta earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Management, cum laude, from Providence College in 1982. He received his Juris Doctor from Gonzaga University School of Law in 1985 and was admitted to practice law in Connecticut that same year. He began his legal career as a criminal public defender and was later admitted to the United States District Court in 1986 and the Supreme Court of the United States in 1990.
Attorney Tramuta’s career includes significant executive leadership roles outside of private practice. He served as General Counsel and Executive Vice President of a biomedical startup in Boca Raton, Florida, overseeing marketing and operations and guiding the company’s expansion into 19 countries. Later, as President of New England Stone, Inc. in Milford, Connecticut, he restructured the company’s business model, strengthened relationships with architecture and design firms, and drove sales growth exceeding 50%, reaching over $8.5 million by 2006.
Returning to private practice in 2009, Attorney Tramuta became an Associate and Managing Attorney at Moynahan and Minnella, LLC, where he expanded the firm’s corporate and real estate practices and handled major transactions for multimillion-dollar organizations, including the NBA Retired Players Association. He also represented an NFL MVP Superbowl Champion quarterback in connection with purchasing a national restaurant franchise ownership.
Today, as Managing Partner of Minnella & Tramuta, LLC, Attorney Tramuta oversees firm operations and represents a diverse client base. He conducts hundreds of residential and commercial real estate closings annually and represents more than 50 restaurants throughout Connecticut, advising on lease negotiations, business formation, operating agreements, and shareholder agreements. He also assists professional contractors with Home Improvement Act–compliant contracts and aggressively advocates for personal injury clients, often recovering full policy limits and pursuing underinsured motorist claims.
In recent years, Attorney Tramuta has expanded his focus on wills, trusts, and probate administration, including probate litigation involving the removal of unethical administrators and trustees. He has prepared hundreds of wills, powers of attorney, living wills, and trusts, including Special Needs Trusts.

Committed to community service, Attorney Tramuta has served for over 20 years on the Board of Directors of Boys and Girls Village, supporting at-risk youth and their families, and he remains actively involved with the Milford Chamber of Commerce (received donor of the year award). Attorney Tramuta is the lead sponsor of Friday After Five. It is a free 6 week concert series open to the public in Mildford.
Outside the office, he enjoys boating, golfing, traveling, and spending time with his wife of 35 years, Meg, and their daughters, Sophia and Olivia. He is also a proud supporter of Milford Porch Fest and local arts and music initiatives.
